Textile and garment exports in April increased both year-on-year and month-on-month

In April, the United States imposed "reciprocal tariffs" on its global trading partners, which had a huge negative impact on the recovery of the world economy and also increased the uncertainty of China's textile and garment exports. In response to the severe external environment, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and governments at all levels have actively responded and introduced a series of policies and measures to support foreign trade, helping foreign trade enterprises stabilize exports, markets and expectations. According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, China's total export value of goods trade in April was 315.69 billion US dollars, up 8.1% year-on-year. Among them, the export value of textiles and garments was 24.19 billion US dollars, up 1.5% year-on-year and 3.4% month-on-month, achieving steady growth both year-on-year and month-on-month. From January to April, the cumulative export of textiles and garments reached 90.47 billion US dollars, increasing by 1.1% year-on-year.

Textile and garment exports denominated in RMB:

From January to April 2025, the cumulative export of textiles and garments reached 649.54 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2% compared with the same period last year. Among them, the export of textiles was 329.17 billion yuan, growing by 4.9%, while the export of garments was 320.37 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.5%.

In April, the export value of textiles and garments reached 173.44 billion yuan, increasing by 0.5% year-on-year and 3.3% month-on-month. Among them, the export value of textiles was 90.21 billion yuan, rising by 2.4% month-on-month and 4.4% month-on-month. The export value of garments was 83.23 billion yuan, decreasing by 1.5% and increasing by 2.2% month-on-month.

Textile and garment exports in US dollars:

From January to April 2025, the cumulative export of textiles and garments reached 90.47 billion US dollars, increasing by 1.1%. Among them, the export of textiles was 45.85 billion US dollars, growing by 3.8%, while the export of garments was 44.62 billion US dollars, decreasing by 1.5%.

In April, the export value of textiles and garments reached 24.19 billion US dollars, increasing by 1.5% and 3.4% month-on-month. Among them, the export value of textiles was 12.58 billion US dollars, growing by 3.4% and 4.4% month-on-month. The export value of garments was 11.61 billion US dollars, decreasing by 0.5% and increasing by 2.2% month-on-month.
